Baby Elephant’s Bedtime Bath
Deep in the warm jungle, where the trees whispered soft lullabies and the fireflies danced like tiny stars, lived a little baby elephant named Ellie. Ellie had the softest gray skin and the sweetest brown eyes that sparkled when she smiled.
As the sun began to set, painting the sky in gentle pinks and oranges, Mama Elephant called out in her loving voice, “Ellie, my little one, it’s time for your bedtime bath!”
Ellie wiggled her tiny trunk with excitement. Bath time was her favorite time of day! She loved splashing in the cool, clear water of the jungle stream.
Mama Elephant led Ellie down the soft, grassy path to their special bathing spot. The water was just the right temperature – not too hot, not too cold, but perfectly warm and cozy.
“In you go, little one,” Mama said gently.
Splash! Ellie stepped into the water with her four little feet. The water felt so good on her skin. She giggled as tiny fish swam around her toes, tickling them softly.
Mama Elephant filled her trunk with water and gave Ellie a gentle shower. The water cascaded down like a warm waterfall, washing away all the dust from their day of playing in the jungle.
“Whoosh!” went the water as Mama sprayed it over Ellie’s back.
“Giggle, giggle!” laughed Ellie as she felt the water trickling down her sides.
Ellie tried to copy Mama, putting her little trunk in the water and blowing bubbles. Pop! Pop! Pop! The bubbles floated up into the evening air like tiny soap balloons.
A friendly frog hopped over to watch. “Ribbit! What a happy little elephant!” he said.
A colorful parrot perched on a branch above them. “Pretty baby! Pretty baby!” she chirped sweetly.
Even the gentle butterflies came to flutter around Ellie, their wings like soft whispers in the air.
When Ellie was all clean and fresh, Mama helped her out of the water. Drip, drip, drip went the water drops from her trunk.
“Now for the best part,” Mama said with a warm smile.
She picked up some soft, dry leaves and began to gently pat Ellie dry. The leaves felt like the softest towels, warm from the sun that had been shining on them all day.
Pat, pat, pat went the leaves on Ellie’s head.
Pat, pat, pat went the leaves on her little round belly.
Pat, pat, pat went the leaves on her tiny tail.
Soon Ellie was all dry and cozy. Her skin felt so soft and smooth, and she smelled like fresh jungle flowers.
“There’s my beautiful, clean little elephant,” Mama said, wrapping her trunk around Ellie in the biggest, warmest hug.
The moon had risen high in the sky, casting a gentle silver light through the trees. The night sounds of the jungle were soft and peaceful – the gentle hoot of an owl, the quiet rustle of leaves, and the distant splash of the stream.
Mama and Ellie walked slowly back to their cozy sleeping spot under the big baobab tree. The grass was soft like a natural carpet, and the air smelled sweet with night-blooming jasmine.
“Time for sleep, my precious one,” Mama whispered softly.
Ellie snuggled close to Mama’s warm side. She felt so clean and comfortable, so loved and safe. Her eyelids began to feel heavy, like soft curtains slowly closing.
As Ellie drifted off to sleep, she dreamed of floating on gentle waves, of bubbles that sang lullabies, and of warm hugs that lasted all night long.
The jungle around them grew quiet and peaceful. The fireflies dimmed their lights one by one, like tiny nightlights being turned off. The leaves rustled a gentle goodnight song in the breeze.
And there, under the starry sky, Baby Elephant Ellie slept peacefully through the night, dreaming sweet dreams of her lovely bedtime bath.
