Owl’s Nighttime Lullaby

High up in the old oak tree, when the sun goes down and the world grows sleepy, lives a gentle brown owl named Luna. Luna has the softest feathers and the kindest golden eyes that twinkle like stars.

Every night, when little ones like you are getting ready for bed, Luna begins her special job. She spreads her silky wings wide and takes a deep breath. “Hoo-hoo,” she calls softly. “Hoo-hoo.”

The baby rabbits in the meadow hear Luna’s gentle call. They snuggle deeper into their cozy burrow, pulling their fluffy tails over their noses. “Thank you, Luna,” they whisper sleepily.

The little field mice peek out from their warm nest in the tall grass. Luna’s lullaby makes them yawn big, tiny yawns. They curl up in a fuzzy ball with their mama and papa, safe and sound.

Even the baby deer in the forest clearing lifts his head to listen. Luna’s soft “hoo-hoo” tells him it’s time to rest beside his mother under the starry sky.

But Luna’s lullaby travels even further than the meadow and the forest. It drifts through open windows where little children are tucked into their beds.

A baby girl named Emma hears Luna’s gentle song. She pulls her soft blanket up to her chin and closes her eyes. The owl’s lullaby makes her feel safe and loved.

A little boy named Sam listens to Luna’s “hoo-hoo” from his crib. He hugs his teddy bear tight and lets the peaceful sound carry him to dreamland.

Luna looks down from her tree with her wise, caring eyes. She sees all the little ones settling down for sleep – the baby animals in the meadow, the children in their beds, and even the flowers in the garden that close their petals for the night.

“Sleep well, little ones,” Luna whispers into the gentle breeze. “I’ll watch over you until morning comes.”

She ruffles her feathers and settles onto her favorite branch. The moon shines down like a nightlight, and the stars twinkle like tiny lamps in the sky.

All through the night, Luna keeps her loving watch. If a little one stirs or has a bad dream, she softly calls, “Hoo-hoo. Hoo-hoo. You’re safe. You’re loved. Sleep tight.”

And when the first rays of sunshine peek over the hills, Luna smiles to herself. Another peaceful night has passed, and all the little ones have slept soundly under her care.

Soon, Luna will close her own golden eyes and rest during the day. But when the sun sets again, she’ll spread her wings once more and begin her gentle lullaby, watching over all the little ones with love.

“Hoo-hoo,” Luna calls softly one last time. “Sweet dreams, little one. Sweet dreams.”

The End.
