Gentle Giraffe’s Good Night
In the soft, golden light of the setting sun, Gentle Giraffe stretched his long, long neck up to the treetops. The leaves rustled quietly as he munched on his favorite green snacks.
“Yum, yum,” said Gentle Giraffe, his spots dancing in the warm light.
As the sky turned from yellow to orange to pink, Gentle Giraffe noticed all his friends getting ready for bed. Little Rabbit hopped to her cozy burrow, wiggling her fluffy white tail. “Good night, Gentle Giraffe!” she called.
“Good night, Little Rabbit,” said Gentle Giraffe softly.
Sleepy Elephant swayed slowly to his favorite sleeping spot under the big baobab tree. His trunk swung gently back and forth. “Time for bed, Gentle Giraffe,” he trumpeted quietly.
“Good night, Sleepy Elephant,” whispered Gentle Giraffe.
The colorful birds chirped their last songs of the day before tucking their heads under their wings. “Tweet, tweet, good night!” they sang.
“Good night, little birds,” Gentle Giraffe replied with a smile.
As the stars began to twinkle in the purple sky, Gentle Giraffe felt his eyelids growing heavy. He walked slowly to his favorite sleeping place beside the tall acacia tree, where the grass was soft and the ground was warm.
Gentle Giraffe folded his long legs underneath him, one by one. First his front legs, then his back legs, until he was sitting comfortably on the ground. His long neck curved gracefully as he lowered his head to rest.
The moon smiled down at him, casting silver light on his beautiful spotted coat. A gentle breeze whispered through the leaves, making a soft “shh, shh, shh” sound, like a lullaby.
“The moon is watching over me,” thought Gentle Giraffe peacefully. “And all my friends are sleeping safely too.”
He closed his big, gentle eyes and listened to the quiet sounds of the night. Crickets chirped their sleepy songs. Somewhere in the distance, a wise owl hooted softly. The wind rustled the leaves with a gentle “whoosh.”
As Gentle Giraffe drifted off to sleep, he dreamed of sunny days, sweet leaves, and playing with his friends. His breathing became slow and peaceful, and soon he was fast asleep under the starry sky.
The moon kept watch over Gentle Giraffe and all the sleepy animals in the savanna. Everything was quiet, everything was safe, and everything was ready for sweet dreams.
And just like Gentle Giraffe, it’s time for little ones everywhere to close their eyes, snuggle up cozy and warm, and drift off to dreamland.
Good night, little one. Sweet dreams.
