ASSISTANT DIRECTOR: FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING

SALARY
R444 036 per annum (Level 09), plus applicable benefits in the Public Sector.
CENTRE
Central Johannesburg TVET College, Central Office.
REQUIREMENTS
- Grade 12 certificate or equivalent.
- An appropriate bachelor’s degree or national diploma (NQF Level 6) in Finance, Accounting, or a related qualification.
- Preference will be given to candidates with:
- A minimum of five (5) years of financial experience, with in-depth knowledge of expenditure, fixed assets, inventory, revenue functions, clearing of accounts, and reconciliations.
- At least three (3) years of supervisory experience.
- Knowledge of Basic Accounting Systems (BAS).
- Comprehensive understanding of the CET Act, PFMA, and Treasury Regulations.
- Good interpersonal, communication, and managerial skills.
- Experience in managing accounts and working under pressure with strict deadlines.
- Proficiency in MS Office, SAGE, and ITS.
- A valid driver’s license.
DUTIES
- Assist with payment of authorized departmental expenses.
- Perform monthly reconciliations of creditors, inventory, and fixed assets.
- Prepare reports for management on inventory, fixed assets, and expenditures.
- Maintain accurate records of stock levels, transactions, and movements.
- Ensure stock is accounted for accurately in the accounting system.
- Conduct regular spot checks of stock.
- Maintained detailed records of fixed assets, ensuring proper data capture and depreciation calculations.
- Ensure accurate classification and capitalization of fixed assets.
- Manage expenditure transactions, suspense accounts, ledger clearing, and account reconciliations.
- Reconcile and manage travel accounts.
- Address payment queries and manage departmental claims.
- Supervise and manage staff.
- Request and analyze BAS reports as needed.
- Communicate effectively with internal colleagues and managers and with external stakeholders such as suppliers, the National Treasury, and the Auditor-General.
