Position Details

Department: Electricity & Energy Directorate


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage, supervise, coordinate, and control the installation and maintenance of:
    • Lighting
    • Underground cables
    • Bundle conductors
    • Transformers
    • Substations
    • Overhead lines
    • Buildings and civil works
    • Associated equipment
  • Provide technical support and advice to depots, including the Transmission Maintenance Division.
  • Ensure high standards of service delivery and contribute to achieving the strategic objectives of the Integrated Development Plan (IDP).

Qualifications and Experience

  • Educational Requirements:
    • B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
    • Registration as a Professional Engineer or Professional Technologist.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of five years in the field.

Special Conditions

  • A valid Code B driver’s license.
  • Government Certificate of Competence.

Key Attributes and Competencies

  • Physically fit to perform duties that include climbing, lifting equipment exceeding 20kg, and working in varying environmental conditions.
  • Ability to work under pressure, especially during power failures and critical deadlines.
  • Strong decision-making skills involving risk management, particularly during switching operations.
  • Good sight, speech, and hearing abilities (eye test for color blindness required).
  • Excellent communication, administration, management, supervisory, negotiation, and financial management skills.
