Job Purpose
The Petroleum Tanker Driver will be responsible for operating ultra-heavy-duty vehicles with a gross vehicle mass or gross combination mass exceeding 25,000 kg. The role ensures safe transportation of petroleum products, compliance with road safety regulations, and effective documentation handling.
Minimum Requirements
Education and Licensing:
- Grade 12 / Matric / NQF Level 4 (Minimum Grade 10 / NQF Level 2).
- Valid Code EC Driver’s License with a PrDP (“D” if required to operate a DG vehicle).
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years experience as a petroleum driver.
Additional Requirements:
- Proven safe driving record.
- Clean criminal record.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Vehicle Preparation and Operation:
- Prepare the car for trips and ensure readiness for operation.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Operate ultra-heavy-duty vehicles safely and efficiently.
- Documentation and Accountability:
- Handle documentation from dispatch to customer and return to the distribution center.
- Ensure all transported goods are accounted for accurately.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Maintain the roadworthiness of the vehicle before departing the depot.
- Follow all road safety regulations and company policies.
- Work Flexibility:
- Be prepared to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required.
- Additional Responsibilities:
- Follow all reasonable instructions from supervisors.
