Job Description

Are you passionate about fashion trends and driven by the dynamic world of style? At Truworths, we are seeking a Trainee Fashion Designer who thrives on spotting and researching the latest trends. If you’re inspired by celebrities, bloggers, influencers, and designers, this role offers an exciting opportunity to shape the unique look and feel of our various brands. Partnering closely with the Buyer, you’ll help deliver the trendiest products for the season. This position is based at our Head Office in Cape Town.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth research on international and local product trends, tailoring findings to the South African market.
  • Collaborate with Buyers to build ranges that incorporate vibrant color palettes, fabrics, and contemporary designs.
  • Manage specific areas of design while contributing to team projects on an ad-hoc basis.
  • Potential opportunities to attend international trade fairs and visit global fashion capitals to gather insights on upcoming trends.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A fashion design qualification or related field of study.
  • Solid understanding of fabric types and garment construction.
  • Proficiency in graphic design is advantageous for supporting product development.

Competencies
